Barcode-Labels

"Barcode, barcode, barcode again and again and no end in sight" - that could mean the slogan which describes the success story and the magnitude of barcode. Even if we do appreciate that in the foreseeable future RFID solutions will take over many tasks of the barcode it will remain as a primary tool for product identification for many years. And so consequently the barcode-equipped label.

The barcode has its origin in the USA in the middle of the last century and it is used for identification of wares and products as an EAN-code (European Article Number) in Europe too.Beside the the very important and universally konwn EAN-code a variety of different barcodes are in use for different tasks in our society. There are three different codes: the 1-D-code, the 2-D-code and the 3-D-code. All these codes have been developed in recent decades for a variety of tasks. The goal was and is to keep logistic- and identidication-processes easy and safe. In any case a reading device and a according data-processing-system are required. Modern bar code labels are often used in combination with RFID-components or elements of electronic article surveillance.

RF LabelTech has a very large experience in the production of high quality and functionally barcode labels. Everything is possible, whether as a single-label or integrated in a label solution, combined with a variety of covering materials and adhesives - it`s the decision of the customer. We can use over 40 different types of barcode. Have a question? Just ask!

We have this week had a training course about static electricity and what it means for RFID production and once again we have clarified the that RFID should be produced on machines built for RFID production and not machines modified for RFID production.
We tested different materials and saw the importance of a adequately ionization installation. In a production with the use of normal PET without the use of ionization equipment we built 16Kvolt on the pitch after just having run 50 cm and in principle can withstand HF 2 K volt and UHF only 1 K volt. At the same production layout but with the use of ionization equipment the values does not exceed 0.2 K volt.
On our Bielomatik we had calibrated the 12 points where we remove the static tension and while we have purchased equipment so we can detect the static values ??as they change significantly when using different materials.

Here in April 2011 we have some of our staff on Conference in Orlando, Florida. The purpose is to be educated and keep our organization updated on the development that continuously takes place with regards to RFID. Our technicians has been follow the Conference “RFID for IT-professionals” which is a track focusing on middleware and reader protocols. How to use middleware and what standards can be used with them. As example Ale and Lowlevel protocol LLRP was used to build middleware systems. This is not an area we usually engage in but we find it is important to know and understand how the systems are linked.
Furthermore all the EPC standards were covered and examples on standards within Libraries, Military and Aero industry were given.
On the sales side the time was spent going over the new hardware, antenna and readers, new chips etc. On the tag side the focus was on NFC that seems to be “talk of the town” and the technology has a promising potential not least because in a few years most Smartphone’s will have an NFC read/write chip incorporated and will therefore be able to read the NFC chips.
